To businesses, residents and the community

LaTasha is passionate about the people in her community! As your State Delegate, LaTasha will ensure that you are always represented in Annapolis. As a fellow 24th District resident and business owner, she is committed to voicing the issues that impact you and your families. LaTasha remains on the front lines advocating for excellence and equality in our education system, public safety initiatives, returning citizens policies and youth engagement programs.

LaTasha Ward, believes that our Maryland small and minority businesses should have equal access to marketable opportunities in and around their communities. She is committed to ensuring that when major projects, developments and comparable opportunities are made available in Maryland, resident small business owners are afforded a “set aside” to help provide a level playing field for them. This commitment effort will also ensure that small, qualified, and certified businesses in certain socio-economic categories are eligible for a seat at the table too. LaTasha is a fighter and, she will be in the forefront lobbying for Maryland to award contracts to small and minority owned businesses. She knows firsthand that small and minority owned business are capable of performing the work, providing the products being purchased and are more than qualified enough to finally become part of the BIG BUSINESS DEALS!

Another primary commitment focus for LaTasha is to build up your taxes and revenues by providing contracts and opportunities to Maryland businesses first because the goal is to keep the monies spent by consumers in Maryland.

LaTasha believes that Mental Health Month “which aims to raise awareness for mental health by fighting stigma, providing support, educating the public and advocating for equal care” should not just be recognized nationally in May but should be acknowledged and supported every month for Maryland, District 24 residents.

She is therefore committed to providing the best possible attentiveness support and, through her relationships and partnerships, has the capability and the know-how to increase surrounding services and treatments, related education, and accessibility to meet both the mental and behavioral health needs of the District and County.LaTasha possesses empathy and values the completeness of ensuring that the whole body, both physical and mental, is cared for in our communities. LaTasha knows that understanding is key!

LaTasha believes our communities should be safe places to live, work and play. LaTasha is committed to identifying and implementing safety policies that have been effective in reducing crime and traffic accidents in communities similar to ours.

LaTasha’s seeks to improve your safety and quality of life by partnering with you to improve community engagement, prevention initiatives and support the enforcement of safety policies.

LaTasha believes our returning citizens should have a seat at the table as well. These residents are our neighbors, coworkers, and parents of our next generation. Most want to move past their mistakes to create stability for their families. LaTasha is committed to creating opportunities for our returning citizens to be included and succeed. Through policy changes, all residents, including returning citizens can be positive contributors in our communities.

LaTasha believes our children deserve to receive a 1st class education. She is committed to advocating for accountability on our school board, by ensuring that our elected board members are able to make the necessary changes to move our school system forward.

Prince George’s County students lag behind other jurisdictions in academic achievement.

While our schools are showing progress, LaTasha is committed to implementing changes to produce results to improve our children’s academic performance, making them competitive and hirable in the 21st-century job market.

LaTasha believes in being original but, in the case of senior citizens, she is willing to copy other states/districts (Florida, Delaware, Nevada, Washington, DC) in practice when it comes to being tax friendly to our seniors.

Profoundly stated, her reasoning is because she is sensitive to the fact that seniors have paid their dues and should not have to pay taxes on social security or pension income once they’ve reached retirement age. To minimize monetary stress for those on fixed incomes, LaTasha is committed to addressing issues surrounding rent increases vs. rent control, access to necessary medication, medical transportation, and the availability to healthy food choices.

LaTasha is known in Annapolis and is a force to be reckoned with. She is a woman of integrity, has deep compassion for others and will work hard to change the current tax laws that apply to seniors and sadly, continue to keep them struggling financially. Exemption is the key! “LaTasha is loved by seniors because she listens to their grievances and now, is ready to influence and promote change on their behalf.”

LaTasha believes in fair and equitable treatment of veterans and will boldly go the extra miles to ensure that they are represented, heard loudly, and respected.

On a personal note, LaTasha’s passion to commit to the plight of our US veterans is proudly driven by her military father and the soldiers, both men and women, who served with him, before him, and after him. These praiseworthy soldiers made untold sacrifices to protect our country and are deserving of much better resources and assistance. LaTasha’s commitment aligns with the mission of the Veterans Administration, and she is a champion for seeking and addressing the needs of the veteran community, especially the problem of homelessness.

LaTasha believes our youth need to be stimulated and empowered. Our young people are one of our county’s greatest resources. LaTasha is committed to engaging our youth through programs that will give them opportunities to get involved in improving our communities and voice issues that impact them. If we fail to give our youth opportunities to flourish we are neglecting the future of Prince George’s County.
